As one enters into the headquarters of Knolle Farm & Ranch, a South Texas Bed and Breakfast near Corpus Christi, he enters into a compound surrounded by white fences and horse paddocks. It boasts lush green lawns, well-kept flowerbeds and rose and vegetable gardens. Somewhat like the English countryside, somewhat like the South of France, definitely reminiscent of the Caribbean, it is specifically not South Texas rustic "ranch" style. |

Visitors are struck by the huge white
stucco barn, built in the 1930s, which houses the
Main Guest House, Guest Tack Room, Dog House, tackroom and horse stalls
as well as a sitting area, and an upstairs library and deck.
This barn was the central show
barn for Knolle Jersey Farms for over 40 years.
The dark green shutters and terra cotta trim set
the tone for the interior as well as other nearby
structures and guest houses, and preserves that
old-world stucco warmth. |
