In a desire to save a beautiful structure, preserve history, and allow others to share these blessings and legacies, we have opened the McGloin House as an extension of our historic Texas Bed and Breakfast Inn, The Knolle Farm & Ranch. Situated just across the Nueces River from us, the McGloin House shares riverfront property with us, as well as a unique and interesting history. Guests choosing the McGloin House will receive the service and hospitality that KF&R is known for, while enjoying the peace of this very private retreat. They still have access to all of our lodging amenities, but the experience is a variation of the typical bed and breakfast holiday. |

A stay in this graceful historic homestead
and the 315 acres of woods, riverfront and lush
pastures upon which it sits allows one to experience
South Texas culture and history firsthand. It is
situated next to Round Lake, a private oxbow lake
extending from the Nueces River. Guests have access
to a range of outdoor activities, including hunting,
fishing, canoeing, kayaking,
birding or simply
relaxing and exploring the pristine wildlife habitat
that makes up this beautiful countryside. |

| Rich in history and folklore, this home was the first
frame building of the old colony of San Patricio de Hibernia.
The home was built in 1855 by James McGloin, an Irish
empresario and one of the primary settlers of the area.
Further enhancing the historical intrigue are several
stories of folklore and apparitions that have been passed
down through the generations. The McGloin Home also sits
on an area of South Texas that the Lipan
and Carancahua Indians called home long before European
civilization came to America. |
 The
McGloin House and monument is now owned by the Corpus
Christi TX Area Heritage Society, but we both play
roles in keeping this lovely home alive. Through
the bed and breakfast, we are able to share it as a unique vacation home rental that allows guests to immerse themselves in and
live in this fine example of Texas history and beauty.
When not occupied, it is open periodically for public
tours. Please call to request a schedule of tours
or we will accommodate you in planning your own.

Guests will enjoy an entire home with
parlor, full kitchen, dining room and 3 bedrooms.
We can accommodate up to 8 guests; one bedroom having
a king bed, one a queen bed and one 2 sets of bunk
beds. All but the bunks boast the sumptuous down
comforters and pillows that are part of our normal
luxuries. As with other lodging accommodations within Knolle
Farm & Ranch, a full breakfast is included.
Our same gourmet dinners and
picnics can also be delivered to you with prior
arrangements. If you long for secluded privacy and
an escape to the peace of timeless beauty, we now
offer the McGloin House. |
